Netizens demand justice for the brutal rape and murder of Jayapriya
Jayapriya hailed from Anbal village, near Avudarykovil, Pudukottai where her mangled body was found among the bushes. Her mother had filed a missing complaint at Embel police station yesterday which led to an accelerated search for her. The body was sent to Pudukottai Medical College and Hospital for post mortem. She was last seen with a neighbour who took her away under the guise of taking her to the temple, her father who works as an agricultural labourer was alarmed when she did not return home. The police began searching for her on Wednesday and found her body near a pond. They have arrested one of the accused, Raja (25), another one is currently absconding. The gut wrenching incident has led to a huge uproar on social media, with people demanding justice for her by retweeting #JusticeforJayapriya and are requesting netizens to not share her photo to protect her privacy. NCPCR has released a statement saying that swift action will be taken to capture the culprits who will be brought to justice under POCSO Act.
