Bollywood’s “Soorma Bhopali” No More
Bollywood Actor and Comedian Jagdeep, who was best known for his roles in films like Sholay, Purana Mandir, and Andaaz Apna Apna passed away on Wednesday at 8:30 PM in his residence at Bandra. His age was 81.
Filmmaker Mehemood Ali told media that he was not keeping well due to age-related issues and was quite ill from few months. The actor took his last breath in his Bandra Residence.
Born Syed Ishtiaq Ahmed Jaffrey, he has 6 sons and daughters including Actor Javed Jaffrey and TV Celebrity Naved Jaffrey and Muskan Jaffrey. He is also survived by a wife.
Jagdeep stepped into acting as a child artiste in 1951 movie Afsana and also worked as a child actor in films such as Hum Panchi Ek Dal Ke, Aar Paar, Ab Dilli Door Nahin, Do Bigha Zamin and Munna. He rose to prominence as a leading actor with films such as Bindiya, Bhabhi and Barkha. Jagdeep’s performance in the 1968 movie Brahmachari established him as a comic. Jagdeep also starred in several horror films, some of which include hit films like 1984 movie Purana Mandir and 1985’s 3D Saamri. His last screen appearance was in Gali Gli Chor Hain as a Police Constable in 2012.
Bollywood Celebrities like Ajay Devgn and Anil Kapoor were among the first people to show condolence to the late actor. Probably his last rites will be performed today.
